The National Endowment for the Humanities will host a briefing on how the humanities serve veterans on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 1pm to 2 PM in Cannon House Office Building 122. Light refreshments will be available. RSVP to Mattea Sanders, msanders@neh.gov.
From combat to the classroom, the NEH is helping veterans and their families process the homecoming experience and transition to college and the workforce. The projects featured are part of a recently released report on NEH’s impact on veterans, Supporting Veterans, available here on www.neh.gov.
Featured Projects include:
>the Warrior-Scholar Project, a course for veterans enrolling in college,
>Ancient Greeks/Modern Lives, a touring theatre programs for veterans and military families,
>YouStories, a library program and app for veterans to share their experiences,
>the Missouri Warrior Writers Project, creative writing workshops in VA hospitals,
>and Literature and Medicine, a reading program for VA Hospital staff.
